Keep sensitive information private
Find a Boat and Check a Boat do not require personal contact details to start. A Pre-Survey Intelligence Report request asks for your genuine name and email, with an optional telephone number, together with public boat-listing details so CYR can assess and respond to the request. CYR Marine Brief subscriptions use the email address where you want the free Brief; first name is optional. Authorised brokers applying to the Founding Broker Pilot should provide genuine business contact details. Do not submit payment-card or banking details, identity documents, confidential financial information, private seller communications or other sensitive records through these public forms.
Data used during the public launch
CYR may store the answers and boat details a visitor chooses to enter on their device, including public advert links, pasted public advert text and screenshots supplied for boat checking. Feedback records may include the selected area, rating, comments, originating page, build information, submission time, screen width, browser language and basic browser/user-agent information. Pre-Survey report requests store the name, email, optional telephone number, genuine listing URL, boat identity, asking price, stated concern, submission reference and basic request/browser context needed to review and respond. Brief subscriptions store the email address, optional first name, consent version and time, subscription status and basic browser/user-agent information. Broker-pilot applications store the brokerage name, business email, inventory or website link, optional telephone number, permission confirmations, submission time and basic browser/user-agent information.
Local and account-linked records
Public Find and Check progress may be kept in the browser's local storage so it can survive refresh or a return from a broker page. Clearing site data removes those local records. Cross-device My Boats, workspace records and Yacht Passports are account-linked features currently limited to invited accounts and are not available to general signed-out visitors.
Why it is used
Public-launch data is used to operate the journey, preserve progress where offered, understand faults and improve CYR. Pre-Survey report request data is used to assess the requested boat, decide whether CYR can provide a useful manual report and contact the requester about that request, including timing and payment arrangements if the report is accepted. If Stripe Checkout is available and used for an accepted report, CYR sends Stripe the information needed to process and identify the payment, such as the customer email, CYR request reference and product description. Stripe processes payment and technical data under its own privacy notice; CYR does not receive or store the customer's full card details. Brief subscription data is used only to manage consent and send the free Brief; each confirmation provides a private unsubscribe route, and unsubscribing removes the email and name from the active record. Broker application data is used only to review participation, contact the applicant, obtain or confirm authorised listing access and manage approved listings. These records are available only to authorised CYR operators, are not sold and are not used for third-party advertising. Nothing is published automatically.
Decision-support boundary
CYR supports organisation and decision-making. It does not replace qualified marine, surveying, engineering, legal, insurance or financial advice.
